St Mary Bredman Site of St Mary Bredman, High Street; churchyard under Nason's department store. St Mary Bredman was probably a church of Norman origin. It was situated next to the Medieval Bread Market, hence its suffix, to distinguish it from the other five St Marys' in Canterbury. St Margaret's church took over the parish in the late 19th Century, the church subsequently being demolished in 1900. Today, this forgotten church is the site of a small open area with seating, and the memorial to the East Kent Yeomanry that originally stood in the Cattle Market until it was removed after the Second World War.
